She studied mining in college. Some of her best friends have been widowed by the perils of the industry. And now she's just been hired to replace her retiring father as Superintendent of the Greymount Mine. But she's quickly learning that being a female in charge of a mine is no easy task. She finds herself in direct opposition to the stubborn "old guard," who feel that a mine is no place for a woman, much less one without practical mining experience.
